Chan School of Public Health are seeking a distinguished scientist to serve as chair of the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The successful candidate will also be appointed as a tenured professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard T.H.  Assistant/Associate Professor of Computational Biology

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and Harvard Medical School (HMS) seek an accomplished and innovative research faculty member to join the newly formed cBio Center at DFCI. The Center is an open and collaborative environment with a focus on computational biomedicine and cancer systems biology and is headed by Chris Sander. We provide an opportunity to pursue basic and translational research with an emphasis on solving biological problems using computational and data science methods, and to collaborate with cancer researchers and clinicians to impact clinical trials and cancer care in the age of genomically informed personalized medicine. The primary position will be in the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at DFCI, with an academic appointment in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at HMS.

Particular areas of interest include:

  • machine learning and big data sciences
  • biomedical image analysis
  • phenotypic heterogeneity & single cell profiling
  • computational immunology

We also encourage strong applications in other areas of quantitative biology.

Requirements: a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree and a significant record of asking good questions, advancing technology, making discoveries, and reporting these in peer-reviewed publications. Academic rank at Assistant or Associate Professor will be according to experience and productivity.

Postdoctoral Fellow - Quackenbush Lab

The Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in Cancer Computational Biology and Bioinformatics interested in working in radiomics and genomics. This postdoctoral fellow will work with Dr. Quackenbush as part of a a collaborative team to develop methods to integrate quantitative imaging and genomic data in developing better diagnostic, prognostic, and theranostic biomarkers and to instantiate the associated methods in easy-to-use software tools.

Requires a Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics, or a related field.

    

Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

 Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Single Cell Genomics - Yuan Lab

One postdoctoral position in computational biology focused on single cell genomics is available in the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The candidate will develop computational methods for analyzing single-cell transcriptomic and mass cytometry data and apply to solve biological problems in stem cell and cancer immunotherapy research. The candidate will have the opportunity to closely interact with both basic biologists and clinical investigators at the Harvard Medical School and affiliated hospitals.

Qualifications: The ideal applicant should hold a doctoral degree or equivalent qualification in computational biology, (bio)statistics, computer science, or a similar field; have strong programming (in Python, R, Matlab, or C/C++) and communication skills; and have previous experience in analysis and interpretation of genomic data. Previous knowledge in single-cell biology is not required. Candidates holding a degree in biological/medical science are also welcome to apply if they have demonstrated experience in computational or statistical work.
